If I were to recommend some items of hardware or software to a small company to try and expand, I would tell them to use a hard drive, motherboard, processor, a version of Microsoft office, and some sort of Windows (i.e. Windows Vista). Having a good version of Windows can help in speed of searches, better wireless networks, and having a better desktop for your computer (1). Microsoft office can help in many ways. Typing word documents, making charts and spreadsheets, and making PowerPoint’s for presentations are all examples of how Microsoft office can help a smaller company expand. Presentations are a great way to show the benefits and success of a smaller company; showing the success is a great way to get the company’s name out there and help them expand. A healthy hard drive would be crucial for a company to expand because it is the main method of storage for a computer. As a company expands, it will need to save a large number of files, which makes the hard drive so important. The motherboard of the computer is another vital piece of hardware that would be necessary for the company to expand. The motherboard is the “backbone” of the system that determines the type of components that can be used with the system and the number of internal peripherals the system can support. Finally, the processor is considered the brain of the computer system. The processor is important for how quickly the computer operates and is able to get jobs done (2). These items of hardware and software would be very important for a small company that is trying to expand and grow larger.
